Steve Sepp, Tasty! Tasty!

My latest story, Steve Sepp, Tasty! Tasty! is up at Nature.com. Here:

http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v472/n7342/full/472254a.html

It's number 128 of The One-Thousand. If you live near an exceptional newsstand, you may able to score a paper version of it in the April 14th issue of Nature.

If you enjoy it, tell your friends. Or your enemies, I don't care.

I don't have many peeps to send this around to, keeping a small tight circle, but I put it before the Committee--being the closest women friends. One said, "okay, thanks Em, yeah, what the hell was that?" Another said, "that was creepy." Creepy? I didn't see that. Strange, willfully absurd, disturbing, emerging from an imagination unafraid of the dark. Regular readers here think that's good, right? I do, which explains why another friend said, "oh, I do see why you liked it." The last friend said nothing, just giggled. She's a chef at a super fancy schmance restaurant, and the giggle was unnerving. Not more unnerving than the story, though, don't worry.

You know, it's funny. Here in the age of the Internet, we science fiction readers have found so many like-minded people that it actually feels strange to encounter others who don't get it at all. A friend of mine at work absolutely loved the story but his friend almost seemed angry at the idea of it and told me it was sick. I'm so used to my people, I thought her reaction was crazy.

By the way, thanks for telling your friends, Elke! I was ask people to, but they hardly ever do.

Three out of five women surveyed preferred this story. The other two were not on a nearby wavelength. Your coworker's friend didn't meet the threshold for statistical purposes.

I'll take those stats. Thanks!
